Champ Car keeps Toronto
Champ Car's Toronto event has a new owner-operator. A new company called Grand Prix Association of Toronto, wholly owned by Champ Car, takes over from Molson Canada.
The brewer continues as title sponsor of the event, which will be known as the Molson Champ Car Grand Prix of Toronto.
"Just as with Cosworth and Long Beach, we will control our own assets,'' said series co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven.
Officials also said seven races will be broadcast on CBS and NBC next year. The remaining eight races will be aired on cable motorsports leader Speed Channel.
GP Masters car tested
The spec single-seat race cars for the new Grand Prix Masters series, built by the U.K.'s Delta Motorsport and powered by Nicholson-McLaren V8s, were tested at Silverstone by Andrea de Cesaris, Nigel Mansell, Stefan Johansson, Derek Warwick, Alex Caffi, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Patrick Tambay and Christian Danner.
