This referendum business is causing a lot of people to lose their heads. In particular, the recent behaviour of two ministers has become a matter of some concern. I am talking of Environment Minister Kalonzo Musyoka and Special Programmes Minister Njenga Karume.

Let's start with Mr Musyoka. There is something the aspiring presidential candidate needs most to remember: wise people know when to hold their tongues. He especially needs to guard against airing confidences shared to him by other public figures which can only place those same figures in very embarrassing positions.
