Nov. 14--FARMER'S FOODS OPENS SOUTHSIDE PLAZA STORE: Johnny Farmer has eyed the Richmond area for a couple of years for his Farmer's Foods supermarkets. Now his grocery store is here -- opening last week at Southside Plaza at Belt Boulevard and Hull Street in South Richmond. "It just seems like the opportunities are greater for us atthese urban areas," Farmer said.
The Southside Plaza store is the first urban store for the Chase City-based chain, which has seven stores in Virginia and three in North Carolina. But Farmer said his company is looking at other urban locations to open in the next year, including some in Richmond area. …
