I was never one of those people who thought the Volkswagen Bus was the solution to the world's transportation problem.
I'm of the right vintage, and my memories of the '60s are fond. I had the hair, wore the tie-dye and carried the signs.
Those early Buses, though... I'm an eager driver, never reluctant to go anywhere in anything. But a long trip-meaning any journey involving fourth gear-in one of those gave many of us our first glimpse of Eternity.
I thought time had buried those memories. When the Doctor announced he had "tracked down'' a "semi- restored'' 21-window Bus, they came flooding back.
"It's really cool,'' he said. "Well, I haven't seen it, but the guy said...''
There's a recommendation for a 40-year-old vehicle: The guy selling it says it's a steal.
