Nov. 8--GE Money Thailand plans to open its retail banking operation in January, with consolidated growth of 20 percent projected for its banking and consumer finance businesses in the first year, according to president Piriyah Wisedjinda.
The company expects to receive approval for its operational plan for GE Money Retail Bank by the end of this year. It has raised 5.3 billion baht in paid-up capital from parent GE Group for the bank.
GE Money expects the retail bank to tap the mortgage and small and medium-sized enterprise loan market.
