Nov. 5--Peugeot plans to use Thailand as its production base, likely for a new right-hand drive sport utility vehicle (SUV) that fits local tastes in order to reduce reliance on sales of passenger cars imported from Europe.
The French automaker's market share in Thailand is small since its cars cannot compete on price with the likes of Toyota, Honda or Nissan which have large local production bases, according to Dominique Monet, director-general of the Asean office of Automobiles Peugeot Asean.
