Nov. 5--The fuel tariff adjustment charge (Ft) may drop to almost zero by the fourth quarter of 2006 as power plants use more natural gas instead of other more costly fuels, according to Energy Minister Viset Choopiban.
There will be more gas for electricity generation after PTT Plc's third pipeline comes onstream next year to bring gas onshore from the Gulf of Thailand.
The Ft charge is reviewed every four months to reflect changes in fuel costs. It was recently set at 56.83 satang per unit (kilowatt/hour) for the period from October to January.
