Nov. 5--Who says Las Vegas isn't a major league sports town?
Certainly not the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which hopes to bring professional golf's best players here for a made-for-television playoff beginning in November 2006.
On Tuesday, the authority's board will consider a three-year, $4.5 million sponsorship of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.
The annual event pits four players in a 36-hole playoff. The champion claims a $400,000 prize, while others share what's left of a $1 million purse.
