Health Canada has announced it will allow Shire Pharmaceuticals to resume sales of Adderall XR[R], a central nervous system stimulant approved in January 2004 for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A February 2005 suspension was a response to safety data indicating possible sudden deaths, heart-related deaths and strokes in children and adults taking the drug.
