A 24-hour English-language TV news channel is being launched in India through a partnership between Turner International and the Indian broadcaster India Broadcast News.

The co-branded service, to be called CNN-IBN, will allow Indian viewers to watch local news as well as relevant global news items from the Turner-owned CNN.

Rajdeep Sardesai, the channel's editor-in-chief, said: 'In a fast-globalising India, access to CNN's global news network will add immense value for our audience.'
