Jackie Newcombe, the publishing director of Marie Claire, has been named managing director of IPC Southbank, following the departure of Sandy Whetton last week.

Newcombe takes up the post on 3 January and oversees IPC's portfolio of women's monthly titles, which include Marie Claire, InStyle and Woman & Home. She will also manage Wallpaper Group.

She will report to IPC's chief executive, Sylvia Auton, and will sit on the IPC board alongside the four other section heads - Philippa Brown, the managing director of IPC tx; Evelyn Webster, the head of IPC Connect; Tim Brooks, the managing director of IPC ignite!; and Caroline McDevitt, the IPC Advertising chief.
