Nov. 3--Non-profit foundations will petition the Interior Ministry to relax investment limits that restrict organisations to bank deposits and government bonds.
Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, a senior executive vice-president of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, said a number of alternative investments were available that offered higher returns with limited risk, but that current regulations banned foundations from such choices.
The Interior Ministry regulation is based on an interpretation that charity organisations cannot make profit-seeking investments using public contributions.
