Disposable diapers are normally either incinerated or sent to landfill. Now there is another alternative. Knowaste Technologies Inc. of Toronto has developed a process that recycles used diapers into three usable substances.

The new process involves washing out human waste and placing it into the sanitary system where it is treated in the normal manner. The diapers are then washed, sanitized and separated into wood pulp, mixed plastics and superabsorbent material. These resources are then sold to be converted in new products.
