Nov. 2--Bird-lovers have called for the government to lift a ban on the import of bird flu vaccine to help control the spread of the epidemic.
Some experts have said the bird flu has halved the pet bird industry, as local and foreign buyers shy away from orders over fear of disease.
Bird enthusiasts have been left wondering why Thailand's public health authorities prohibit bird flu vaccines from entering the country, despite the fact that they could help prevent infection, said Pakpoom na Songkhla, managing editor of Apa Media Co and editor of Sian Nok (Bird Expert) magazine.
