Nov. 2--The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) yesterday brushed aside the effect of rising fuel prices on domestic travel plans.
The agency also said it had shifted its marketing plan to encourage more wealthy Thais to travel locally.
The TAT estimates revenue generated by domestic travellers this year will meet its target of 347 billion baht, according to Juthaporn Rerngronasa, deputy governor for domestic marketing.
The revenue is expected to come from 76.25 million trips made by Thai tourists throughout 2005, a 4.2 percent increase from last year, when 74 million trips generated 317 billion baht in tourism revenue.
