Debate heats up over model pension fund.

Nov. 2--Policymakers are still wrestling with the issue of whether a new national pension fund should follow a centralised or decentralised model.
The Finance Ministry plans to introduce a new mandatory national pension scheme, into which employers and employees can contribute up to 6 percent of their monthly income.
The programme would complement the existing Social Welfare Fund and voluntary provident funds. Given the country's ageing demographics and growing investment needs, increasing long-term savings pools are considered crucial for long-term economic and social stability.
