Oct. 26--EAST MANATEE -- With the number of students at Mills Elementary School expected to rise to 1,200 students next year, the school district is making plans to accommodate the growth.
A new elementary school is in the works for an area between Fort Hamer and Mullholland Drive, north of U.S. 301, and is scheduled to be completed by August 2007, said Herb Tschappat, executive director of planning for Manatee County Schools.
Until the new school becomes available, Tschappat said a 10-room addition is in the works for Mills. The additional rooms should be completed by August 2006.
