Before you construct something you need to know the ground rules, and the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Second Edition (AACR2) will probably be the basis for any information centre looking to build a catalogue.

This book does have one mark in its favour - Michael Gorman is the colourful president of the American Library Association (ALA) and an award-winning author. One of the few global librarian celebrities.

Gorman's user-friendly fourth edition of The Concise AACR2 takes in the recent changes to AACR2 which reflect electronic resources, serials and cartographic information holdings.

Here, Gorman has re-written all the rules from the full text of AACR2, and provided working examples that will be encountered in an information centre or library setting.
