This collection of essays from UK library professionals represents a diversity of approach to developing and supporting e-learning. Editor Maxine Melling defines e-learning widely, as learning "facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technologies".
Melling acknowledges that e-learning is still very much under development and that libraries are at very different stages in their implementations and support for e-learning. In her introduction, she points out that cultural and collaboration issues are as important as technical issues, and the essays reflect the importance of human issues.
Supporting E-learning does not attempt to be a guide to e-learning, rather it informs library and information managers of the issues to be considered and how others have addressed the issues.
