Foyt IV leaving the IRL
A.J. Foyt IV will give up the comforts of home to try his steering hand in NASCAR's Busch Series, where Ray Evernham will be his new mentor. Foyt insisted there are no hidden issues with leaving his family-owned Indy Racing League team.
Foyt will drive the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge now piloted by Mike Wallace. It is the same Akins Motorsports ride Evernham placed Kasey Kahne in for the 2003 season before Kahne moved to one of Evernham's Nextel Cup cars.
A.J. Foyt's IRL team will continue, with a driver to be named later. Jeff Bucknum drove for the team at the league's two road-course races earlier this season.
Servia staying
Newman-Haas Racing confirmed Oriol Servia will contest the season's last two races, at Surfers Paradise in Australia and the Mexico City finale. The announcement is a formality: Servia, who joined the team three races into the season to replace the injured Bruno Junqueira, won in Montreal and is second in the championship behind teammate and defending champ Sebastien Bourdais. If Junqueira is fit to race, the team may enter a third car at Mexico City.
