New Delhi, Oct 17 (PTI) The Hero Honda Indian Open received a major boost today with the confirmation of India's US PGA star Arjun Atwal for the USD 300,000 event to be played at the Delhi Golf Club from October 27 to 30.

This will be Atwal's first tournament in India since enjoying his breakthrough season on the US PGA Tour.

Having comfortably secured his US PGA Tour card for next year, thanks to some fine performances, the 32-year-old has confirmed he will return home to play in what would be the 42nd edition of his National Open.

It will be a sentimental return for Atwal as the event, sponsor and venue have all played significant roles in his flourishing career.

Atwal won the Indian Open in Calcutta in 1999 to claim his maiden victory on the Asian Tour.
