Searching for a job at California college and universities just got easier, with the creation of two new Web sites: www.socalherc.org and www.norcalherc.org
The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), a group of 27 colleges and universities in Southern California and 34 in Northern California, has launched the sites as the first higher education employment Web sites in California. They were designed to provide a wide variety of job seekers with access to thousands of jobs in higher education available at HERC member campuses across California.
The two HERC Web sites give job seekers access to centralized information about thousands of faculty and staff positions at the consortium's member schools, which include campuses of the University of California, California State Universities and California Community Colleges, as well as private colleges and universities. Previously, job seekers had to visit the Web sites of each school to stay abreast of opportunities.
Job seekers have free access to the HERC employment Web sites, including the "myJobs" feature, which automatically sends emails to potential applicants when jobs that match their profiles are posted. In addition, the sites feature a dual-career search, which enables job seekers to link their own search criteria with those of a spouse or partner, ensuring that they are notified when jobs become available that meet both job seekers' criteria.
