If you want to advance in student affairs, chances are you'll need a PhD. Questions about the process led Dr. Margi Healy and Dr. Barbara Bender to present a session on earning the doctorate for student affairs professionals at the NASPA conference in Tampa in March.
Dr. Healy is associate professor of education leadership at the University of North Dakota, and Dr. Bender is associate dean of support and graduate school services at Rutgers University NJ. Both are jobs they would not have gotten without doctorates.
