Northwestern University IL, whose NCAA championship women's lacrosse team made the news for wearing flip-flops to the White House in July, is using the incident to raise money for a child with brain cancer.
The women took advantage of the national attention by auctioning off their autographed footwear. They raised more than $3,000 for New York resident Jaclyn Murphy, a 10-year-old who is fighting brain cancer.
"It shows what type of people these women are," said coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, whose team went 21-0 this past spring. ...
