THE National Council yesterday adopted a code of conduct requiring all members to fully disclose their financial and business interests, and to refrain from actively taking part in matters in which they have direct or indirect financial interest.

The purpose of the code, according to Vice Chairperson Margareth Mensah-Williams who tabled the motion, is to provide a framework for judging acceptable conduct in the House.

"The Code of Conduct," she said, "contains guidelines to assist us (in) identifying potential areas of conflict of interest and avoid them altogether."
