Dodge to the WTCC?
Dodge may join the World Touring Car Championship as part of its relaunch in Europe in time for the 2007 season.
DaimlerChrysler wants to use the Dodge brand for a major European push and is eyeing the new WTCC as part of its marketing campaign. It would likely use a new Ford Fusion-sized vehicle due to go on sale in 2007.
Prodrive is rumored to have talked with Chrysler executives, and some sources suggest a deal is already done. This would likely result in a Dodge touring car hitting the tracks in time for the final races of next season.
Wheldon a no-go to F1
As it turns out, Dan Wheldon's latest (and apparently final of 2005) flirtation with Formula One was much ado about nothing. Talks with officials from the BMW and Williams teams Sept. 23 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, did not lead to serious discussions, Wheldon said, at least "not in the time frame that I have.''
In other words, Wheldon, the Indy 500 and IRL champion, needs to sign his next contract with Andretti Green Racing. Expect that to happen soon.
