Ayia Napa (Cyprus), Oct 10 (PTI) An association of national news agencies of Commonwealth countries was established here today to evolve good journalistic standards in media and exchange of cooperation in training and technology among them.

M K Razdan, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of PTI, was chosen the first President of 'COMANA' (Commonwealth Alliance of News Agencies) at a meeting of the founder members comprising besides PTI, Britain's Press Association (PA), Australian Associated Press (AAP) and the host Cyprus News Agency (CNA). New Zealand Press Association has also given its consent in principle.
The agencies met here under the aegis of Commonwealth Press Union, which was represented by its Executive Director Lindsay Ross. CPU will be the co-ordinator of the alliance.
