Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. Inc., Valhalla, N.Y., introduced the GetPix Digital Dropbox, a freestanding unit that combines a traditional film dropbox, with a digital order terminal. Consumers drop off film in an envelope or insert digital media into the terminal, enter their name and phone number, choose print size and quantity, remove the media, take a receipt, and go. Digital photos are uploaded to Fujicolor Processing for off-site printing, and are ready for in-store pick up two days later.
By November, all 3,400 Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB locations will offer the Digital Dropbox. Wal-Mart will price 4-by-6 prints at 15 cents; SAM'S CLUB will offer members 13-cent 4-by-6 prints; the service complements its existing 1-hour and home delivery options, also powered by Fujifilm technology.
