Oct. 7--Pirom Priyawat, the managing director of Eastern Wire Plc, has acquired a 47.62 percent majority stake in non-listed Thanasin Insurance for 50 million baht amid lingering scepticism over how he can pull the insurer out of financial difficulties.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) yesterday, Mr Pirom said that on Sept 30 he bought five million shares of Thanasin Insurance, adding to the 500 shares he had already had.
Mr Pirom reportedly has close ties to the Larpwisuthisin family, the majority shareholder of embattled Picnic Corporation Plc.
