Oct. 7--A system to rate the energy efficiency of new cars sold in Thailand will be introduced in line with the government's energy concervation policy.
The Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) is working with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to develop a rating system similar to the one for electrical appliances, according to Metta Banturngsuk, the EPPO director general.
The system will give consumers information on the fuel consumption of cars. The FTI's automobile industry club will set city and highway mileage ratings for passenger cars and one-ton pickup trucks.
