City Mayor Ignatius Moswaane briefed councillors yesterday about the twinning of Francistown City Council (FCC) and the Belgian City of Genk. Addressing a special full council meeting yesterday, he said that the proposal of starting a relationship between the two cities was made in August 2003 and was initiated by Genk after learning about Francistown from the Internet. At the time, Genk was looking for a city in Africa with some similarities to it and identified Francistown because the two were once mining towns.
