Phuket airport fees halved for charters: But industry says gains will be modest.

Oct. 6--Airports of Thailand (AoT) Plc will halve the landing fee for charter flights at the Phuket airport for three months starting this month to help the resort island's tourism industry to recover further from the Dec 26 tsunami.

But the fee for scheduled flights will remain unchanged as AoT sees the main need is to attract international tour groups on charters arranged by tour operators.

Furthermore, it views the landing fees at Phuket airport as being relatively low compared to those charged at airports in neighbouring countries.
