AngloGold Ashanti UNDER FIRE IN DRC AngloGold Ashanti has been accused by international NGO Human Rights Watch of supporting an armed group responsible for "crimes against humanity" as a result of its involvement in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Human Rights Watch (HRW) also contends that AngloGold Ashanti may have violated the UN arms embargo imposed on combatants in the DRC because of its support for the armed group, which controls the area where it is exploring for gold. AngloGold Ashanti is searching for new gold mines in the Kilo Moto concession in the Ituri district of the northeastern DRC. …
