THEY put on Wellington's biggest two-day party and last night the organisers of the Axa New Zealand International Sevens scored a winning try of their own.

In the hotly contested Wellington Region Gold Awards, the team behind the sevens walked away with the top prize after being named The Dominion Post Supreme Gold award winner. The awards recognise the contribution made by business to the region.

Loved by rugby fans and players alike, this year's sevens tournament brought thousands of people to Wellington, packing out the Westpac Stadium, bars, clubs, hotels and restaurants for the two-day event …
