Kanchan Siddiqui in Asansol Oct. 4. - Mr Bansogopal Chowdhury, former state small industries minister, is now a member of Parliament. Mr Chowdhury, the CPI-M candidate for the Asansol Lok Sabha by-election, defeated the Trinamul Congress candidate, Mr Moloy Ghatak, by about 230,000 votes, setting a record. The result was declared here today. The by-election was held on 28 September with a 60 per cent turn-out, followed by re-polling in a booth on 1 October.
