From the board room of Ijaw people in the Niger Delta, the protest against the detention of Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, moved to Britain yesterday as the Lagos chapter of Ijaw People's Assembly (IPA) called on the prime minister of Great Britain, Mr Tony Blair to forthwith order the release of the embattled governor.

Alamieyeseigha was arrested in London on 15 September by London Metropolitan police over allegations of money laundering.
