Oct. 4--Samart I-Mobile (SIM), the handset distribution arm of Samart Corporation, is expanding its sale network in Vietnam in an alliance with Kantana Group, with the aim of popularising its own handset brand, i-mobile, in Indochina.

The 69.62 percent-owned flagship of Samart earlier announced plans to step up production of its own brand to reposition itself as a manufacturer of mobile phones instead of a distributor, thanks to the higher margins and increased demand for cheaper house-brand models.
