Palestinian radio Voice of Palestine on 31 May carried the following report on the Higher Local Elections Committee's decision to postpone the repeat [local] elections indefinitely:

"The Higher Local Elections Committee decided a short time ago to postpone indefinitely the repeated elections scheduled for tomorrow in the Burayj, Rafah and Bayt Lahiya constituencies.

"Following a committee meeting today, committee chairman Jamal al-Shawbaki told our correspondent that the decision to postpone the elections was made in response to the request made by the Higher Follow-Up Committee of the Islamic and National …
