According to AL-Hayat newspaper (May 31, 2005), recently executed technical studies by some of the European expertise houses reveal a decrease in the available fish resources in some of the Moroccan coasts. The studies related this fish resource withdrawal to the non environmentally-friendly fishing methods practiced by the Spanish boats and which are aimed at maximizing the fishing amounts. As the only North African country without oil, Morocco has had to make the most of its other advantages. The ocean off Morocco's Atlantic coast is one of the richest fishing grounds in the world.
