NEW DELHI: Conservationists have hailed the high court's decision to move control of Jama Masjid out of Imam Ahmed Bukhari's hands, while the ASI hopes that it will now be easier to maintain the mosque's historical and architectural features.

Intach convenor of Delhi Chapter, O P Jain, pointed out the pathetic upkeep and maintenance along the fringes of the monument. Jain said, "These periphery areas should be under the control of ASI restrictions governing the monuments."
