NRL urged to get tough on cap offenders.

Several NRL chief executives have called on the league to dock competition points from clubs which repeatedly breached the salary cap.

The call for tougher measures came on a day when the NRL board fined five clubs a total of $275,000 for salary cap breaches, with Melbourne hit the hardest.

The Storm was fined $120,000 for breaches relating to third party contracts over the past five years while the Bulldogs were hit with a $72,000 fine.

St George Illawarra ($32,286), Penrith and Sydney Roosters ($25,000 each) were the other offenders.
