Motorcyclists look for adventure in revised law

With the revised Road Traffic Law taking effect earlier this month, the ban has now been lifted on motorcyclists carrying passengers on the nation's expressways, opening up a new market and simultaneously raising new concerns.

In June, a new type of license for automatic motorcycles will be adopted. With the spread of the large automatic scooters, a license for three engine sizes--up to 650cc, up to 400cc and up to 125cc--will be issued, with the number of preparatory hours required being less than that for motorcycles with manual transmissions.

And with the favorable business environment, bike manufacturers have begun to launch a succession of new, larger scooters, making it possible …
