Chesky, David: Area 31 (including The Concerto for Violin and Orchestra; The Girl From Guatemala; The Concerto for Flute and Orchestra). Anthony Aibel, conducting an ensemble that includes soloists Tom Chiu, Wonjung Kim, and Jeffrey Khaner. Recorded ca. 2005; location not listed. These three works are different from each other stylistically, but they each are still essentially "modern classical" in form, as the blurb sheet that came with my review sample indicated. Musically, they really do work well, and David Chesky is obviously a talented and imaginative composer. Indeed, I think that the material will also satisfy those who generally favor traditional musical forms.
