Few things stir bad juju in labor union halls more than talk of overseas outsourcing, which sends U.S.-based jobs elsewhere.
But researchers at Kendle International argue that at least one form of the practice might save American lives. Kendle is a contract research organization, or CRO, that manages clinical trials required by the Food and Drug Administration in order to approve new drugs.
A rising share of those trials are being conducted on volunteer patients in the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria and Peru. And this year the firm acquired clinical trial operations in India and South Africa.
