TV-like channel surfing is coming to the Internet.
Blinkx, a little known Internet search company, on Monday plans to launch what it and analysts call a first-of-its-kind service.
The service will let people search the Web for video clips and watch them online.
Video search is rapidly emerging, but nothing quite like this has appeared.
Earlier this year, Blinkx launched a less ambitious searchable index for finding video clips online. Privately held Blinkx has been widely rumored to be a takeover target of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
Yahoo and Google, the Internet's leading search services, also have similar searchable video indexes. But unlike the new Blinkx service, they don't let users view the clips right on their sites.
