Concurrent with the request made by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan for the Islamic Republic of Iran to pursue the [nuclear] talks with the European countries [Britain, France and Germany] at foreign ministerial level, Kofi Annan, in an interview with the American publication USA Today, warned about referring Iran's file to the Security Council and said: If American and Britain wish to punish Iran in the Security Council, this demand may place the Security Council in an impasse.
