Section: Corporate News - BEC World Plc is switching from a staple of local soap operas to reality-TV programmes, because production costs are far less and it has just suffered its worst-ever plunge in profit, The Nation reports.

Chatchai Thiamtong, the vice president of Channel 3, operator of BEC World, said the company recorded a net profit of Bt153 million in this year's first quarter, down from Bt278 million in the first quarter last year.

The results are also down by Bt84 million from last year's fourth quarter.
