Oct. 3--Ekarat Engineering Plc, a major producer and distributor of transformers, plans to make solar cells at Amata City, Rayong.
President Chulchit Bunyaket said the company would be the only manufacturer of solar cells in Southeast Asia and that the production would have the capacity to produce 50 megawatts (MW) of electricity per year.
He explained that other companies in the region assembled solar modules by importing solar cells.
