Oct. 3--The Bank of Thailand expects non-performing loans in the banking sector will stay at 10 percent of total outstanding loans at the end of this year.
M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, the central bank governor, said NPLs would decline more slowly in the last four months of the year as most of the bad loans left at commercial banks were difficult to restructure. The level of NPLs in the industry stood at 10.31 percent of total loans in August.
