Oct. 3--Thai Rung Union Car Plc, a Thai-owned listed vehicle modiifer, is in talks with India's Tata Motors about setting up a joint venture to manufacture one-ton pickup trucks in Thailand.

Pranee Phaoenchoke, the president and director of Thai Rung, said the two firms agreed that Thailand was a good production base for one-ton pickup trucks because of the tax incentives offered by the Board of Investment and the bilateral free trade pacts the country had signed.

Production of the joint venture would be sold both domestically and abroad.
